SONGWRITING, COMPOSITION, AND ARRANGING
Not only is proprietor Greg Marks a capable professional performer, teacher, and repair tech, he holds a degree in Jazz Composition & Arranging, and is respected by professional artists for creating work of outstanding artistic merit. In addition to winning a couple of minor competitions (for individual original jazz works) in the earlier part of his education and career, Greg was awarded an artsnb creation grant in 2025 - a highly-competitive, peer-juried award - to spend a year pursuing an original composition project focused on jazz, jazz fusion, and related genres.
Greg has written in many styles, creating works for settings as small as solo saxophone or singer/songwriter, and as large as big band or full orchestra with rhythm section and soloists. His arrangements have been performed by numerous groups, including Northern Voice (an a cappella group), Shamper's Bluff, Memphis2Motown, WTFunk, Dee Hernandez and D'Fusion, and Symphony New Brunswick.
